CICLISMO-Andy Schleck es expulsado de la Vuelta a España por violar norma de equipo
TARRAGONA. (Reuters)- El ciclista luxemburgués Andy Schleck, subcampeón del Tour de Francia en los últimos dos años, dijo el martes que quedó descalificado de la Vuelta a España por vulnerar una norma de su equipo.
Antes del inicio de la décima etapa, Schleck, quien inició la carrera española como favorito, ocupaba el puesto número 77 en la clasificación general, a más de 37 minutos del líder Igor Antón.
El director del equipo Saxo Bank, Bjarne Riis, también envió a casa al australiano Stuart O’Grady.
“Reconozco que rompí una norma del equipo al salir a tomar una copa después de cenar y por esa razón Bjarne ha decidido que Stuart O’Grady y yo nos vayamos a casa”, manifestó Schleck, citado por Cycling News.
“Soy responsable de mis acciones y aunque creo que es una decisión muy severa, respeto que Bjarne es el jefe y tiene que hacer lo que cree que es mejor”, agregó.
El hermano de Schelck, Frank, continúa en la carrera, ubicado decimotercero en la tabla general.
La Vuelta a España finaliza el 19 de septiembre en Madrid.
