FUTBOL-FIFA pone fecha límite para elecciones de la federación de Sudán
JARTUM. (Reuters)- La FIFA dio a Sudán hasta el 15 de agosto para volver a llevar a cabo las elecciones presidenciales de su federación de fútbol o enfrentará una suspensión a nivel internacional.
La FIFA dijo que no reconocía la votación que la Asociación Sudanesa de Fútbol (SFA, por su sigla en inglés) realizó el 26 de julio en la que se eligió a Mutasim Jaafar como nuevo presidente porque el Gobierno local prohibió a un ex ocupante del cargo ejercer un tercer mandato.
El Comité de Emergencia de la FIFA decidió no reconocer los resultados de la elección y poner una fecha límite el 15 de agosto del 2010 para realizar una nueva elección conforme a los estatutos de la SFA y sin la influencia de terceras partes”, dijo la FIFA en un comunicado enviado el martes a Reuters.
Una posible suspensión amenazaría las posibilidades de Sudán de disputar su primer partido de la eliminatoria para la Copa Africana de Naciones contra Congo el 3 de septiembre.
El secretario general de la SFA, Majdi Shamseddin, indicó que la entidad tendría una reunión de emergencia el martes para discutir la demanda de la FIFA.
Intentaremos hacer lo mejor para solucionar el asunto y para evitar cualquier tipo de malentendido entre la FIFA, la SFA y el Gobierno”, declaró Shamseddin a Reuters.
Shamseddin señaló que lo que impidió al ex presidente de la SFA Kamal Shaddad volver a presentarse como candidato fue una ley sudanesa y no está incluida en los estatutos de la entidad como objetó la FIFA.
Sudán ocupa el puesto 121 en el ranking mundial de la FIFA y pese a que algunos de los clubes del país han tenido buenos rendimientos en competiciones africanas, la selección nacional continúa decepcionando con malas actuaciones.
