TENIS-Mikhail Youzhny supera a Tommy Robredo y llega a cuartos en Abierto de EE.UU
NUEVA YORK. (Reuters)- El duodécimo preclasificado, el tenista ruso Mikhail Youzhny, avanzó el martes a cuartos de final con una convincente victoria por 7-5, 6-2, 4-6 y 6-4 sobre el español Tommy Robredo en el Abierto de Estados Unidos.
Youzhny, un semifinalista en Flushing Meadows en 2006, tuvo éxito en un 62 por ciento de sus primeros servicios y realizó 50 tiros ganadores para quedarse con el encuentro de cuarta ronda.
Tras perder los dos primeros sets, Robredo se recuperó para ganar el tercer parcial.
Pero no tuvo la consistencia para desafiar a su oponente de 28 años mientras el partido llegaba a su fin.
Youzhny enfrentará a continuación al ganador del partido entre el suizo Stanislas Wawrinka y el estadounidense Sam Querrey.
Robredo fue uno de cinco españoles en acción en el cuadro masculino en el noveno día del torneo.
Más tarde durante el día el número uno del mundo, Rafael Nadal, enfrenta a Feliciano López y David Ferrer se mide con Fernando Verdasco.
