Perú otorga concesión puerto norte a consorcio portugués-peruano
LIMA. (Reuters)- Perú adjudicó a un consorcio integrado por firmas portuguesas y peruanas la concesión del puerto de Paita, el segundo más importante del país, en una operación que implicará inversiones por unos 227 millones de dólares, informó el Gobierno.
Las empresas que integran el consorcio Consorcio Terminales Portuarios Euroandinos, que ganó la concesión por 30 años, son las firmas Tertir Terminais del Grupo Mota Engil de Portugal, y las empresas peruanas Cosmos y Translei.
El Grupo Mota Engil es la mayor empresa de construcción de Portugal.
El consorcio se hará cargo del diseño, construcción, financiamiento, conservación y explotación del puerto de Paita, en la región de Piura, cerca a la frontera con Ecuador.
“Fueron precalificados tres consorcios (…) uno de ellos llegó finalmente a presentar toda la propuesta técnica y económica y nos ha dado esta feliz noticia de 127 millones de dólares de inversión obligatoria y 100 millones de dólares inversión adicional”, dijo a periodistas el ministro de Transportes y Comunicaciones, Enrique Cornejo.
La concesión se dá en momentos en que la crisis financiera internacional ya golpea a Perú y el Gobierno del presidente Alan García busca obtener mayores inversiones en proyectos de infraestructura, que frenen una prevista desaceleración de la economía local.
Según la Agencia de Promoción de la Inversión Privada (Proinversión), en los primeros tres años de concesión los inversionistas deberán construir un muelle de contenedores de 300 metros de longitud en Paita.
El puerto de Paita es el segundo más importante de Perú, después de El Callao, y es considerado el eje del comercio entre el océano Pacífico y Atlántico, por su conexión con la carretera Interoceánica Norte Perú-Brasil.
