AmBev y Cerveceria Regional se unen en Venezuela
SAO PAULO. (Reuters)- La brasileña AmBev y Cerveceria Regional anunciaron el viernes que iniciarán un proceso de integración de sus operaciones en Venezuela, para mejorar sus posibilidades de competencia en el segundo mayor mercado de consumo de cerveza en América del Sur.
Tras la conclusión de la unión, la venezolana Regional tendrá una participación del 85 por ciento en la nueva empresa, mientras que AmBev se quedará con el 15 por ciento restante, “que se podrá aumentar al 20 por ciento en los próximos cuatro años” señalaron en un comunicado.
La marca y la estructura de operaciones de Cervecería Regional serán mantenidas.
Los términos financieros del acuerdo no fueron divulgados.
“La operación creará un competidor más fuerte y dinámico en Venezuela (…) Con la transacción, las dos empresas podrán complementar sus presencias geográficas”, dijeron las empresas en un comunicado.
Las operación, que está sujeta a la aprobación de los órganos reguladores, podría completarse antes del final del año.
Regional, fundada en 1929, produce las cervezas Regional Light, Regional Draft y Pilsen.
AmBev opera en Venezuela desde 1994, inicialmente sólo con la marca Brahma, con una fábrica instalada en la ciudad de Barquisimeto, en el estado de Lara.
A las 1338 las acciones de AmBev caían un 0,39 por ciento a 190,75 reales.
