Autoridades en Irán prometen tratar “sin piedad” a opositores
TEHERAN. (Reuters)- Autoridades iraníes de línea dura acusaron el jueves a los líderes de oposición de vincularse a “enemigos extranjeros”, y advirtieron que no se les tendría piedad, a menos que enmendaran su camino.
Las autoridades señalaron que no tolerarán más manifestaciones luego de que ocho personas, entre ellas el sobrino del líder opositor Mirhossein Mousavi, murieran en salvajes manifestaciones el domingo, durante el ritual chiíta de Ashura.
El sitio web opositor Jaras reportó que la policía lanzó dos rondas de gases lacrimógenos para dispersar a manifestantes que protestaban contra el Gobierno en el centro de Teherán.
El reporte no pudo ser verificado de forma independiente debido a una prohibición a medios extranjeros para cubrir directamente las protestas.
“Nuevamente estamos advirtiendo a los líderes de oposición a separar inmediatamente su camino de los enemigos extranjeros y los grupos anti-revolucionarios”, dijo el Ministerio de Inteligencia.
“De otra forma, serán confrontados sin piedad”, agregó el ministerio.
La televisión estatal mostró a un grupo de manifestantes a favor del Gobierno vistiendo sudarios blancos y portando pancartas que decían: “Estamos listos para sacrificar nuestras vidas por el líder”, refiriéndose al líder supremo, ayatolá Ali Khamenei.
Irán ha sido sacudido por las protestas desde una polémica elección presidencial en junio, que le otorgó un segundo periodo al presidente iraní, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
La votación, que según líderes reformistas estuvo arreglada, desató la peor crisis interna en los 30 años de historia de la República Islámica. El Gobierno niega las acusaciones de fraude durante las elecciones.
Jaras informó que tropas y vehículos blindados se movían hacia Teherán, y que se habían desplegado fuerzas de seguridad en varias plazas de la ciudad para frustrar una planeada manifestación de oposición.
Funcionarios negaron que se hubiese llamado a las tropas, que no han sido usadas anteriormente para controlar multitudes.
Las autoridades han acusado habitualmente a fuerzas apoyadas por extranjeros de conspirar para derrocar el régimen clerical, que se encuentra en un punto muerto con Occidente respecto al trabajo nuclear de Irán.
Líderes de línea dura han llamado esta semana a castigar a los líderes opositores por fomentar el malestar. El jefe de la policía iraní advirtió el miércoles a los seguidores de Mousavi que, si no detenían sus manifestaciones “ilegales”, serían tratados con severidad.
