Autoridades de Colombia confiscan 28 millones de dólares en efectivo
BOGOTA. (Reuters)- La Policía confiscó 28 millones de dólares ocultos en tres vehículos que se encontraron en estacionamientos del norte de la capital de Colombia y que al parecer pertenecían a un prófugo narcotraficante, informaron el jueves fuentes de la institución.
El decomiso se produjo en los últimos días como parte de una investigación contra un cártel que lidera Daniel Barrera, alias “El Loco”, uno de los prófugos narcotraficantes más buscados en Colombia.
Uno de los vehículos contenía 12 millones de dólares y los restantes ocho millones cada uno, reveló un oficial cercano a la investigación que se abstuvo de dar más detalles.
La Policía Nacional ni la Fiscalía General reportaron capturas en desarrollo de la operación.
Hace un año las autoridades colombianas confiscaron 28 millones de dólares en efectivo en varios contenedores que llegaron procedentes de México al puerto de Buenaventura, el más importante de este país sudamericano sobre el Océano Pacífico.
Colombia es considerado como el primer productor mundial de cocaína con unas 410 toneladas métricas anuales que se exportan principalmente a Estados Unidos y Europa.
La posición geográfica del país, rodeado por dos océanos, la convierten en un lugar estratégico para el tráfico de armas y de personas.
