Respuesta necesaria a Norberto Fuentes

Hace unos días, mientras hurgaba en los vastos laberintos de Internet, encontré un artículo del escritor cubano exiliado Norberto Fuentes, donde confiesa que le resulta difícil hablar de la poeta y periodista independiente Tania Díaz Castro.
Acababa de leerme Dulces guerreros cubanos, escrito por Fuentes, donde el autor exorciza sus vínculos con los altos dirigentes de la revolución cubana, libro que tuve que leer varias veces por el caudal informativo que encierra. Incluso permanecí sobre algunos párrafos días enteros, como un forense cuando escudriña los restos de un cadáver. Intentaba comprender qué mueve a los hombres hacia las actitudes mezquinas y creo que lo conseguí con ese libro.
En cambio, el artículo que nos ocupa, escrito por Fuentes sobre la colega Tania Díaz Castro, me resultó falto de ingredientes, aderezado a la carrera, o en el mejor de los casos, mal cocinado. Para los que visitamos la casa de esta periodista en Santa Fé, para los que leemos sus artículos y crónicas en Cubanet y aún permanecemos en Cuba, no la vemos desorientada, ni triste y menos, deshecha o desvencijada. Todo lo contrario. Su voz es alta, sus análisis contritos y sus denuncias son efectivas. Su lucha contra la inoperancia del sistema socialista y su decadencia le sirve a ella y a todos nosotros como guía para nuestro trabajo periodístico.
Norberto Fuentes me incitó a hurgar en la verdadera historia de esa llamada quebrantadura de Tania Díaz Castro ante las huestes comunistas y el aparato de la Seguridad del Estado, que la obligó un día del 1988 a renunciar a su lucha pacífica como Secretaria General del Partido Pro Derechos Humanos de Cuba, del cual fue fundadora, junto a Ricardo Boffil y otros viejos luchadores.
Interrogué a Tania, quise saber por qué se quebró como una rama de árbol, por qué alzó su voz contra sus compañeros, por qué se sentó ante una cámara de televisión y se dejó emplear en uno de esos programas con propósitos desmoralizantes, producidos por la Seguridad del Estado.
En primer lugar, Tania me aclaró que es cierto que se quebró luego de permanecer seis meses encerrada en las tapiadas de Villa Marista, amenazada con veinte años de cárcel, mientras sus hijas menores de edad quedaban solas en casa. Que si alzó su voz no fue contra los viejos fundadores de su organización, sino contra los disidentes de última incorporación, quienes emigraron rápidamente y nunca más levantaron su voz en el exilio a favor de los Derechos Humanos, como por ejemplo, Mercedes Parra, Pablo Roberto Pupo, Lidia González, Rita Fleitas, Gladys Padilla, Cecilia Romero Acanda, Hemérita Helejalde y algunos otros.
–Es duro hablar de esas cosas — me dijo Tania, con la mirada perdida, como si rememorara aquellos tiempos –. Es la primera vez que lo hago.
Por último, me aclaró que nunca pensó, mientras era entrevistada por los coroneles de la Seguridad, que se trataba de un programa de televisión, algo que conoce muy bien Norberto Fuentes. Y que jamás pidió a sus viejos amigos, como por ejemplo, Heberto Padilla, Reinaldo Bragado, Adolfo Rivero Caro y Ricardo Bofill que intercedieran por ella para que su retorno al Movimiento de Derechos Humanos fuera aceptado.
Tania Díaz Castro regresó de donde su corazón nunca había salido. Así me dice y yo le creo, porque esta mujer, ya con setenta años y decidida a morirse en su tierra, me asegura que nunca le han gustado las mentiras.
